Watch the “Ellen” audience go wild over the country side of Steven Tyler

There was a time when music fans could never imagine a day in which Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler would look at such peace and sound so in his element as much as he did performing his country single “Red, White and You” on the May 24 episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Yet, based on the response of the studio audience, they could not care less what Steven plays, whether that’s country, rock or gospel.

And that’s exactly how music should be.

Playing alongside his Nashville-based new backing band, Loving Mary, Steven rocked the show with “Red, White and You,” one of the many songs to be featured on Steven’s full country album set for release this summer.

“It’s a full-on country feel,” Steven recently told “USA Today.” “People ask me, ‘Why’d you go country?’ It was almost a shoo-in. I always wanted to do Everly Brothers. Playing onstage with the six-piece Loving Mary, it really is beautiful getting out there and singing with a band, where I can look at all the guys and go, ‘Stop playing right now’ and we’ll just sing a cappella. I’ve never been in a band like that, so it’s a whole new thing for me.”
