According to Burr, he pulls back his drinking every once in a while and is inevitably brought back to the bottle thanks to countless American traditions he needs to uphold.

“There’s just always something coming up,” Burr notes.

The comedian listed off how the winter holidays turn into the Super Bowl, then Valentine’s Day, followed by St. Patrick’s Day, as reasons it was tough to quit drinking.

“I’m not an alcoholic, I just truly enjoy getting drunk,” Burr tells Conan.

The only way Burr thought that he could straighten out is if he ever got serious in life.

“If I had a kid, or a real job.”
