There’s an old joke that ends with “it takes a long time to get to England in a rowboat,” and one daredevil (or possibly just unintelligent) paddler discovered that when the waves are big, it takes a pretty long time to get anywhere in a rowboat. Somehow, he gets caught sideways as the waves are coming on full force, and the boat easily capsizes.

If you ever find yourself stuck in a rowboat and, for some reason, you have to move through the breaking waves, please realize that the only way to successfully push through is to go bow first. If you try to go over sideways, you’ll only end up soaked and without a boat.
