Flashback To Jack Black’s Audition For ‘American Idol’ … It’s What Dreams Are Made Of

If you had to pick someone to cover Seal’s classic “Kiss from a Rose,” the first name to come your mind would be Jack Black.

The Tenacious D singer, School of Rock (among countless other movies) star and comedy sensation brought his singing voice to American Idol way back in the day, and he began by saying Kiss from a Rose is from Batman Returns, or “the most sensitive of all the ‘Batmans,'” as Black would put it.

Needless to say, the judges were less than impressed with Black’s audition. Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul didn’t even have anything nice to say, and all Simon Cowell offered was a backhanded compliment.

At least Seal himself supported Black.
