Jimmy Fallon is attempting to make amends for his Trump coddling, for which he received a slightly excessive amount of criticism during the election season. Fallon has recently been losing the late night ratings war to Stephen Colbert — a veteran of political satire.

In the opening segment for last night’s episode of “The Tonight Show,” Fallon discusses Trump’s low approval ratings — mentioning things that are more popular than the President, such as biting into a cookie and realizing that a chocolate chip is actually a raisin — before introducing a fake commercial for a non-existent board game called “The Blame Game,” which pokes fun at the President’s blame-shifting, as well as his golfing addiction.

“If things get too hard, just move your piece over to Mar-a-Lago and collect $2 million of taxpayer money!” instructs the voice over, before mentioning that the game is intended “for presidents ages 70 and up.”
It would seem that Fallon, who received a stamp of approval from the President’s son, Donald Jr., on Instagram in response to a recent monologue addressing Don Jr.’s weird, rustic photo shoots, is trying to shake-off his reputation as politically-vanilla comedian.
Fallon’s rival, Stephen Colbert, hosted political talk show “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central for nine years, before replacing long-time host of “The Late Show,” David Letterman in 2015. Unlike Fallon, Colbert has been critical of Trump for years, and is an expert in poking fun at the current President.
