Nancy Pelosi just can’t seem to get a break. The House Speaker made a surprise visit at a music festival in New York City this weekend. She was unfortunately met with a lot of boos from quite a rowdy crowd. Pelosi took the stage at NYC’s Global Citizen music festival alongside actress Priyanka Chopra. The festival calls corporate leaders to make meaningful commitments to achieve the end of extreme poverty.” She briefly spoke about climate change and carbon pollution.

Videos of the incident were posted on social media, and have now gone insanely viral. “As speaker of the house, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and determination as global citizens,” she told the crowd.

“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” she added while being drowned out by the rowdy crowd. “It will slash carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”
The California representative also called for “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.” As well as “better water and air for our children.”
“Despite the boo’s from the crowd, Global Citizen thanked Pelosi for attending,” they tweeted. “Thank you,@SpeakerPelosi for recognizing Global Citizens all around the world who took action in support of the new, historic climate legislation in the US!”
Artists who participated at the festival were Mariah Carey, Usher, Metallica, and The Jonas Brothers.

As a Canadian, I am shocked, disappointed, bewildered, and very sad when I hear how Nancy Pelosi was treated at this event. I hope the performers stepped up and defended her.
You realize that Trump once said on a late night tv show that if he ever ran for president he (at the time a Democrat) would run as a Republican because “they are stupid enough to vote for me”.
