“SNL” standout Pete Davidson tries to get political on “Weekend Update”

Pete Davidson gets political on "Weekend Update."

Pete Davidson has no real political opinion. It’s easy to tell that by hearing the “SNL” cast member talk. But what he does have is a good feel for people. So on last night’s “Weekend Update,” Davidson went through Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks and gave his first impression of each.

“You knew we were in trouble when every liberal in America was like, ‘Come on, Mitt Romney!’” Davidson began, before beginning with attorney general nominee Jeff Sessions, a cross between Pinocchio and Dobby, an elf from “Harry Potter.”

Steven Mnuchin, nominee for Treasury Secretary, feels like a metrosexual Apple Genius Bar technician to Pete. Mnuchin’s billions, in Davidson’s mind, come from a drive to get women to sleep with him, but now he realizes he needs to turn those billions into trillions. Because, you know, he can’t get laid.

Ben Carson got Trump’s nomination for Housing because Carson grew up in the projects, which means Davidson gets to be Secretary of Honda Civic. It just gets funnier from there, especially when Davidson brings up a non-Cabinet pick, Eric Trump.
