We don’t know if a penis-shaped necklace beats a penis-shaped jacket. but social media will probably tell you it’s at least a tie.
Or maybe the necklace wins because it’s more current.
The latest accidental phallic symbol comes to you courtesy of sportscaster Shannon Hogan. She handles pre- and postgame hosting duties for broadcasts of New York Islanders games.
She said the necklace she wore during one telecast was merely a gift from her mother. The Internet saw it as something else.
Hogan, for her part, handled the feedback with grace.
“Woke up this morning and immediately reevaluated all of my jewelry,” she tweeted. “Just to be safe, I’m sticking with this for the rest of the season … some really funny memes last night you guys. Thanks for the giggles.”
Of all which leads us to the penis jacket case of 2016. It came from Australian television, where news anchor Samantha Heathwood showed off a green jacket that, again, had the Internet abuzz.
Just like Hogan has promised to do, Heathwood has won the jacket several more times, perhaps merely to give the people what they want.
As they say, it’s all in the eye of the beholder. Or in this case, the eye of people who have a knack for that are shaped like something you don’t see everyday.
