Stephen Colbert remembers the late Don Rickles with a wonderful story

On Thursday, legendary comedian Don Rickles passed away at 90. For a lot of comedians performing today, “Mr. Warmth” was one of the comics that they grew up watching. During Thursday night’s taping of “The Late Show,” host Stephen Colbert took a brief moment to remember the legend.

Colbert recalled a time when they were both at an Emmy Awards show, joking, “the better one of us (Rickles) won.” The host said that Rickles, “hugged me and told me I was good and I felt like a made man.” Colbert gushed, “we all should have his career and be who he was, married to his wife, I don’t know, 120 years, something like that.”

He closed by saying, “God bless you Don Rickles and thank you, thank you for everything you’ve done.”
