It seems the entire entertainment-loving universe is celebrating the recent marriage of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
Everyone but Bethenny Frankel, that is. Instead, the Real Housewives of New York star appears to be a bit concerned — specifically for Affleck.
“They’re in love. They’re the ones that got away and they’re back together,” Frankel said on her Just B with Bethenny Frankel podcast. “Also, compound that with one member of the relationship being an addict.”
Ouch. Anyway, when Frankel says “addict” she is talking about Affleck, who entered rehab for alcoholism in 2001, 2017 and 2018.
“And being an addict has its challenges for the person and for the person in a relationship with the addict,” Frankel said. “I call it activation. I’ve been surrounded by addicts for most of my life. Stress is not great for an addict.”
And marriage can be stressful. So can being in the spotlight as much as Affleck and Lopez have been recently, thanks to all the talk about their wedding.
“He’s running on Dunkin’ [Donuts] and he’ll smoke a cigarette and he’s living his Boston life,” Frankel said. “So now he’s with this mega-famous person and it’s a lot.”
What are Ben, JLo up to?
Affleck, 50, and Lopez, 53, have been living it up on their honeymoon in Paris. Pictures of Affleck looking exhausted have surfaced, perhaps leading to some of Frankel’s comments.
All that said, Affleck recently owned up to the addiction in an interview with the New York Times and indicated he is continuing in his rehab.
“Relapse is embarrassing, obviously, I wish it didn’t happen,” he said. “I wish it wasn’t on the Internet for my kids to see.”
