Cara Winhold, a 30-yr-old Texas woman, has had a birthing experience that many consider to be miraculous. She got pregnant while already pregnant. The babies were conceived about a month apart. But they were born only 6 minutes apart.

The baby boys were born with a 1.8 kg (almost 4 pound) difference in weight.
What Cara experienced is a very rare condition known as superfetation. It’s when a woman becomes pregnant while already pregnant. It affects about 0.3 percent of women—but most of the time, the second baby dies.
At her 5-week pregnancy checkup, there was one baby. Two weeks later, the other baby showed up in the scans.
Cara Winhold gave birth to two boys, Colson and Cayden. They have an older brother, Wyatt, born in 2018.
Cara and her husband Blake kept trying for more children after Wyatt. But Cara suffered from three miscarriages, leaving her thinking that they’d never have another. In fact, the third miscarriage nearly killed her.
“I blacked out and they said that the tissue, which I guess is what they call the baby, had gotten stuck in my cervix and I was bleeding out,” she explains. “They said if I … stayed home for maybe 30 more minutes I would have died.”
The mom and former swim coach ended up going to therapy to deal with the trauma of her miscarriages. She says that she felt guilty, and it took a lot of time to process what she went through.
But she’s counting her blessings now.
Cara says, “I broke down in tears and cried. I was overwhelmed, confused, but very happy. My husband was in shock.”
“I said to the doctor, ‘What happened? He wasn’t there the first time. What’s going on?’ The doctor said that most likely I ovulated twice, released two eggs and they got fertilized at different times, about a week apart,” she says. “I 100% believe it was a miracle just because of everything that happened in my pregnancy journey.”
