You will need:


  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract


  • 1 cup butter
  • 16-ounce package dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Tip: If the frosting becomes too thick to stir, throw in a splash of milk or cream.
