Another day, another internet crusade. A mom’s TikTok post is viral because she shared a video of her newborn baby with pierced ears. So far, it’s already garnered over 1 million views.

A video showing the newborn baby with piercings on day 1 is followed by one of her at 3-months-old. The baby girl has tiny flower studs in her ears, and indeed the internet is full of opinions.
A lot of people are upset.
There are presently almost 2,000 comments and 64K likes on the post. Comments condemning the piercings, such as what are quoted below, have hundreds, if not thousands, of likes.
“They aren’t dolls.”
“On a 1.day you already pierced her ears???”
“Earrings omg that is not right.”
“-She’s crowning.. ‘quick get the piercer ready.’”
“From my experience the earlobe grows with the baby therefore the piercing is never in the right place! How do u know babies don’t feel pain?”
“That’s just wrong, getting their ears done fresh out sac!”
“Never will understand why another human thinks they have a right to pierce another’s body without consent.”
“I’m not gonna judge but just want to ask… what happens to the earrings when they get to the point of being able to use their hands?”
“Gonna get my next baby’s nose pierced at the hospital. its basically the same thing right?! just different spot. like why is this allowed…”
“No shame! Did the hospital do the ear peircings orrr how did it get done?”
“This can’t be in the US that’s for sure.”
But not everyone is hating.
There are actually a lot of adoration for the adorable little girl and her piercings. And there are also people coming to the rescue, defending the mom’s choice.
“Would u leave ur babies placenta & umbilical cord? Now do u see that at the same level as body arts? I do not view circumcision at the same level.”
“In my country they piercing the babies girls in the first date they are born.”
“I’m just here for the earring comments [popcorn emoji].”
“Come to see how many people feel the need to comment about earrings on someone else’s child!”
“Why do ANY of y’all care? It’s not your baby, if the child doesn’t like them when she grows up, she can simply take them out.”
“All anyone sees is the pierced ears. Don’t understand why people still have an opinion on a child that’s not theirs lmao.”
“Love how she has here ears pierced! Honestly I’d do the same.”
There are some purely comedic comments on there as well.
Such as:

(She kind of does at times but gosh, Lara’s super cute).
The baby with pierced ears is Lara and the TikTok account, @Laratikaofficial, is dedicated to her and her big beautiful eyes. It has almost 1 million followers and has accrued nearly 20 million likes.
Responding to the wave of comments afterwards, Lara’s mom said she had no reaction to getting her ears pierced.
“When they are 2-3 days old, they don’t feel pain like a year or two,” she said. “The holes are given to them by neonatologists (doctors specializing in the care of newborns) in the hospital at birth.”

It is here baby as a mother she can make them choices all of yall who are leaving nasty hateful comments worry about your kids and leave everyone else’s out of it
I don’t see anything wrong with it…I had my daughters ear pierced when she was six months old and to this day she still has them pierced and she’s fixing to turn 14

Did any or the critics stop to think this could be part of their culture?
That is a very common thing especially in some cultures. I had my daughters ear pierced by doctor I think before leaving hospital. She is 50 now.
I think she is adorable! With or without the earrings! But at this age…it might be better to have it done..like they do boys at birth!! The baby doesn’t really know pain and it won’t last long as long as mom takes care of them!!!

Inpierced my daughters ears on ay home from hospital. They all slept through it. My son was 2 when i pierced his. They all still love them n have done the same to their kids. To each their own. Mind yalls buisness.
