hhgregg is the latest casualty of tough times for brick-and-mortar stores.

The electronics retailer announced this week it will close 88 underperforming stores and three distribution centers across the U.S. Business Insider reports that about 1,500 jobs will be affected.
The final closures will reportedly happen in mid-April. Until then, the stores “from Florida to Ohio” will sell their current inventory, per Business Insider.
And hhgregg is far from the first chain to suffer from the growing popularity of online shopping. The Limited recently shut down all its stores, and a number of department stores, including Macy’s, Sears, and JCPenney, have famously closed their doors at malls nationwide.
