As relayed by the Mirror, the poll asked 1,095 British adults who they believed were the most popular members of the royal family. Of the respondents, 69 percent found Prince William to be “favorable,” followed by wife Kate at 67 percent.

William, 40, is the elder son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana. He met Middleton in 2001, with the couple getting married a decade later.

Finishing third in the poll was Princess Ann, who garnered 64 percent of the vote, followed by King Charles at 54 percent.

Kate Middleton Is The Most Powerful Person In The Royal Family

The sometimes controversial Prince Harry, William’s younger brother, rounded out the top five. Meghan Markle, Harry’s wife, finished sixth.

Interestingly, while Harry has his critics, he still was considered “favorable” by 41 percent of those who responded. Markle’s tally was considerably lower — at 32 percent.

The new poll just happened to come out shortly after Harry revealed the cover for his upcoming memoir, Spare, due out on Jan. 10.

β€œThis is his story at last,” publisher Penguin Random House wrote in promotion of the book.

Perhaps the book will help explain why William is the favorite in the eyes of the general public. Because right now, that is clearly the case.
