Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood has, sadly, lost custody of another child. Moreover, she said suffering from poor mental health was “used against” her.
Portwood is now suffering more in losing losing custody of son James, 4, to ex-boyfriend Andrew Glennon.
Portwood, 32, went on social media to state her case. She went onto Instagram Live to say she is staying “positive” and intends to “fight this” decision. Portwood also claimed she is paying for mistakes from her past.
She admittedly has struggled with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder.
The ruling was handed down by a judge in Indiana, where Portwood lives.
“Per the ruling, Glennon will now be able to move their son from Indiana to his home state of California. Portwood has been granted overnight visits with James, beginning at three days each month,” the New York Post reported.
The judge did advise that both Portwood and Glennon perform drug screening tests each month, and said that Glennon should “seek out and consider the mother’s opinion before making any major decisions relating to the child’s medical treatment, education and religion.”
When did it all go wrong?
The couple split in 2019 after allegations that she attacked him with a machete.
“We endured the nightmare,” Glennon told E! News. “Now we get to live the dream.”
Meanwhile, Portwood told E! News she is hard at work on herself.
“While I’ve always been candid about my past substance abuse and struggles with mental illness, a person should have the chance to redeem themselves and not be tethered to their problems from the past,” she said. “If your road has not been perfect, but you’ve worked hard to become a better, more stable and caring person today, keep moving forward as I will.”
Portwood also shares 13-year old Leah with ex Gary Shirley, who also has custody of their child.
