They’re creepy and they’re kooky … and they include Catherine Zeta-Jones among their ranks.

Netflix recently tapped Zeta-Jones to play Morticia Addams in a new series revolving around Addams Family daughter Wednesday.

Catherine Zeta-Jones will guest star as the family matriarch in Wednesday, an eight-episode program, The Hollywood Reporter said August 9. Netflix hasn’t yet announced a release date for the comedy-horror series, although it’s reportedly due to air later this year.

On Tuesday, Vanity Fair released a new image of Zeta-Jones in the new Addams Family spinoff series. She looks like a spitting image of Anjelica Houston, who played Morticia Addams in 1991’s The Addams Family and 1993’s The Addams Family Values.

Catherine Zeta-Jones joins a cast that also includes Jenna Ortega as Wednesday and Luis Guzman as Gomez. Christina Ricci — who played Wednesday alongside Houston — is in the cast as well, but her character is still undisclosed.

Tim Burton, who directed the first Addams Family movie with Ricci, will helm the new Netflix series. He also serves as an executive producer, while longtime collaborator Danny Elfman will compose the music.

Neither Burton nor Elfman had involvements with the Addams Family and Addams Family 2 reboot films that came out in 2019 and 2021, respectively.

Catherine Zeta-Jones seems to be popping up everywhere as of late.

In addition to Morticia Addams, she will play the villain in the National Treasure reboot. National Treasure: Edge of History will be a Disney+ Original series, not a film.

“I was just a huge fan of the National Treasure movies,” a virtually unrecognizable Zeta-Jones says in the trailer. She will play against her usual casting as a brunette.

Catherine Zeta-Jones says in the trailer that she plays a black-antiquity dealer. The character “plays at cat-and-mouse game with” the heroine of the film.
