Beth Dutton has easily become one of the greatest TV characters of all time. The character is so well written that it makes you love her but hate her at the same time, but understand where she’s coming from whenever she does something drastic. Whether it’s her ultimate love for Rip, or her dedication to her father and her family name, she does everything with such passion that it makes you wonder if the actress behind Beth is actually like that in real life.

Kelly Reilly, full name is Jessica Kelly Siobhán Reilly, is an English actress who first appeared on screen in the 1995 series The Biz. Several other television appearances include British crime drama Above Suspicion, Black Box, True Detective and Britannia.  But, did you know that she actually has quite a lengthy movie filmography?

Here are 4 films you didn’t know Reilly starred in.

Pride and Prejudice

Yes, believe it or not, she was in Pride and Prejudice,  this one shocked me as well. I had to go and watch the film over just to see where she was, and she actually has a pretty great part in the movie. She plays Caroline Bingley, sister of Charles Bingley. Towards the beginning of the movie, we see Elizabeth visiting Jane at Charles’s estate when Jane falls ill and must stay longer in order for her to recuperate. That’s when Elizabeth gets into quite a feisty conversation with Mr. Darcy, and of course Caroline. The three of them go back and forth discussing what an accomplished woman is.

The 2000 film directed by Joe Wright is based on Jane Austen’s 1813 novel of the same name, telling the story of five sisters from an English family as they deal with issues of morality and misconceptions and marriage. Keira Knightley stars in the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet, which quickly earned her a big fan base. Playing her romantic interest, Mr. Darcy is none other than Matthew Macfadyen.

The film was officially released in 2005 earning a worldwide gross of over $121 million, becoming a commercial success. It received positive reviews and four nominations at the 78th Academy Awards including Best Actress in a Leading Role for Knightly, who was only 20 years old at the time.

Sherlock Holmes

Alongside Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, Reilly went on to star in Sherlock Holmes as Mary Morstan, a governess Dr. John Watson (Law) wishes to marry which causes quite a conflict with Sherlock Holmes (Downey  Jr.). The mystery film follows the life of Holmes and Watson as they are hired by a secret society in order to foil an evil plan to gain control of Britain by seemingly Supernatural means. Other famous A-listers in the movie include Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong.

The film was released on Christmas day back in 2009 receiving a positive critical reaction. Downey Jr. went on to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and the film was also nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Direction.

The movie was so popular that it received a sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Flight

Starting opposite Denzel Washington, Reilly went on to receive the leading role of Nicole in the 2012 film Flight.  The Drama film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by John Gatins starring Denzel as William “Whip” Whitaker Sr., who is an alcoholic airline pilot who crash-lands his plane after a mechanical failure and saves everyone on board. Immediately after the crash, he is held as a hero but an investigation leads to questions that bring a plot twist. The film is said to be loosely inspired by the plane crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261.

The film did gain positive reviews from several critics, grossing over $161.8 million against a $31 million production budget.  The film also received several accolades including two nominations for Best Actor for Washington and Best Original Screenplay for Gatins at the 85th Academy Awards. Reilly went on to win the Spotlight Award from the Hollywood Film Festival.

10X10

Another hidden gem that the actress starred in was in the 2018 British-American thriller, 10×10 which stars the Yellowstone actress as well as Luke Evans.  The film went on to receive positive reviews from several critics with a total of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes. Los Angeles Times praised performances from both actors, but unfortunately questioned the storytelling choices.

The film is about a man who abducts a flower shop owner and holds her captive in a small soundproof room in an effort to extract a very dark secret from her own past. It’s one of those movies where you really have to pay attention to the dialogue since you find several hidden clues at the beginning of the film that lead to the plot twist ending. It’s certainly a refreshing performance from the actress.
