‘A Christmas Story’ Sequel Trailer Is Finally Here!

‘This time, Ralphie is all grown up and must deal with Christmas and all that comes with it … as a dad,’ HBO said of the sequel.

Certain parts of the U.S. are already seeing temperatures drop below freezing. That means many of us are about to see kids with their tongues stuck to metal poles thanks to triple-dog dares. More importantly, it also means it’s finally time for us to get a peek at the new A Christmas Story sequel.

In addition to the trailer, HBO Max shared some details about the film’s plot in an accompanying statement.

“This time, Ralphie is all grown up and must deal with Christmas and all that comes with it … as a dad,” the statement said.

Don’t worry about having to wait too long to see it: The film premieres November 17 on HBO Max, which is currently streaming A Christmas Story.

It’s Christmas Time Again

Curiously, the new sequel is called A Christmas Story Christmas. That’s just about as strange as the name of the new “biopic” Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

The 1983 original is one of the most beloved holiday movies ever. Fans will be pleased that this new installment features many stars from the first flick.

Chiefly, they include Peter Billingsley (a grown-up Ralphie Parker), Ian Petrella (Ralph’s brother), and Zack Ward (the bully). Scott Schwartz and R.D. Robb, who played Ralph’s friends, are back too.

Meanwhile, Julie Hagerty of Airplane! and What About Bob? fame stepped in to play Ralphie’s mom.

Additionally, Billingsley will serve as an executive producer along with his film partner and good friend Vince Vaughn. His Wild West Picture Show Productions is also attached to the film.

Without further ado, here’s the recently released trailer:

Well, it seems safe to say the makers of this year’s Christmas Story movie don’t want anyone to associate it even remotely with 2012’s disastrous straight-to-DVD direct sequel A Christmas Story 2. If you even remember it, that movie was such a lump of coal, it only has three reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nonetheless, that didn’t stop the creators from taking another shot at the franchise.
