Alexander Skarsgård is a dad! The Swedish actor himself confirmed the happy news during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the red-carpet premiere of season 4 of HBO’s Succession. While attending the star-studded event without his girlfriend Tuva Novotny, Skarsgård acknowledged the congratulations he was given by reporters on his new arrival, saying, “Thank you very much.”

“I got this on the red carpet,” the added, showing off a stuffed animal that was given to him by an attendee at the premiere. When the reporter asked if he was “enjoying the process of being a father,” the actor replied, “I am, yeah.”
In November 2022, Skarsgård and Novotny were seen walking around New York City with a stroller, but they hadn’t yet made a public statement regarding the birth of their child. The Annihilation actress revealed her baby bump for the first time in April 2022, during a Swedish awards ceremony. This marks Skarsgård’s first child and Novotny’s second, as the actress has a 16-year-old daughter named Ella with Nicolai Bjerrum Lersbryggen.

In a 2017 interview with Chelsea Handler, Skarsgård revealed his excitement about becoming a father in the future. The Northman actor jokingly mentioned his father, Stellan Skarsgård, who has eight children, saying, “I wanna beat my dad…I better get cracking.” Stellan, 71, has children spanning several decades from his previous marriage to My Skarsgård, whom he divorced in 2007. The actor, shares Alexander, Gustaf, 42, Sam, 40, Bill, 32, Eija, 31, and Valter, 27. Stellan and his second wife Megan Everett are the parents of sons Ossian, 13, and Kolbjörn, 10.
The True Blood star stated that although growing up with many siblings could be chaotic, he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. I grew up in a madhouse, but I thought it was really cool,” he went on to tell Handler. “It was fun. It was just lots of people and dogs running around. It was a very kind of bohemian household. My cousins lived upstairs in this apartment building in Stockholm. My grandparents lived across the street. They should make a sitcom about it because it was at least 20 people for dinner every night.”
