Ben Stiller and Steve Martin had quite some words to tell each other. Ahead of the big game, which is set to take place on Sunday, February 12th at 6:00 p.m. EST, the two comedians are seen roasting each other in two teasers for the Pepsi Zero Sugar commercial.
“As actors, in a way, we never really stop acting,” Stiller begins as he is standing next to Steve Martin and one of the ads. Martin then chimes in saying, “ for example, Ben is acting right now like he’s not intimidated by standing next to me.”

The Zoolander star then answers back, “and Steve’s acting like he’s not lucky to be here.” To which he claps back, “oh, and Ben’s acting like the whole awkward thing he does is a character and not his actual personality.”
After quite a brutal back and forth, Stiller eventually fails to come up with a comeback, saying, “And Steve’s acting like, ‘Oh, I’m Steve Martin,’ when really he’s not so…” Prompting Martin to respond, “See what I mean?”
The funniest moment in the ad comes when Miller calls Steeler a “nepo baby,” which is referencing a recent New York Magazine cover story about nepotism that took the entertainment industry by storm.
Back in December 2022, New York Magazine published a theme cover story that was titled, “The Year of the Nepo Baby” which featured several Hollywood stars who had famous parents. This included Maude Apatow, Dakota Johnson, Drew Barrymore, Jack Quaid, and more. The cover quickly had celebrities and readers engaging in the nepotism debate, saying that children of directors, producers, and actors undeniably have it easier in Hollywood than others.
Although Stiller’s career in television and movies spans over two decades, the Severance director is a child of Hollywood stars, Jerry Stiller and comedian Anne Meara.
In another teaser that was released before the big game, the two also take a dig at each other’s acting skills with Stiller telling The Only Murders in The Building Star, “you could act your way out of a paper bag” to which Martin replies, “you couldn’t act your way into a paper bag that I was!”
