Comedian Chelsea Handler is making headlines again, this time for dismissing the threat of being canceled, implying that only “racists” and “idiots” have to worry about cancel culture. During an appearance on the show, Handler condemned Elon Musk, saying that he should consider leaving Twitter.

Host Sunny Hostin went on to describe Handler as a “famously unapologetic” person, asking her, “Do you ever worry about getting canceled? “No. I’m not an idiot. All you have to do is not be racist and sexist and not discriminate. That’s not a tall order,” Handler said. “You can’t work within these parameters and think of clever material that doesn’t harm other people or make another person a target?”

“I’m a mess, and I like to advertise that. Anyone complaining about [cancel culture] should get a little more creative,” she said. The liberal comedian stated that she found Twitter CEO Musk “repugnant,” saying she would leave Twitter if he remained in charge. However, back in 2016, Handler had threatened to leave the US and go to Spain if Donald Trump was elected president. The comedian remained in the US despite her comments.
“I want him to let go of Twitter. I would like that to be a nice, more organized place,” Handler stated. “Doesn’t he want to go to Mars or something? Why doesn’t he just go?”
Handler is said to be part of a team of guest hosts who will fill in for retired Daily Show Host, Trevor Noah. “I’m definitely going to talk about Elon Musk and George Santos. I’m chomping at the bit,” she continued.
Back in 2017, Handler left her Netflix talk show in order to focus on advocacy and work for the pro-abortion group Emily’s List. She later went on to return to comedy.
