Danny DeVito just revealed a side to his old pal Arnold Schwarzenegger that many never heard of. The two actors have been friends for as long as they’ve co-starred together. According to DeVito (78), Schwarzenegger (75) runs a bit of a zoo… Or should we say, his pets run a bit of his home? “The animals just roam around all over the place — they’re coming to getcha! Ha ha,” he joked to The Times UK.

Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger Are Best Friends

Ever since DeVito and Schwarzenegger starred as fraternal twins separated at birth in the 1988 blockbuster Twins, fans love to see them together. There was something so hilarious about their contrasting statures and goofy personalities that simply can’t be recreated by anyone else. Six years later, they returned for another Ivan Reitman film, Junior, in which Dr. Alex Hesse (Schwarzenegger) agrees to go through with a male pregnancy under the supervision of his colleague, Dr. Larry Arbogast (DeVito). Emma Thompson plays the egg donor, Dr. Diana Reddin. She and Schwarzenegger both received Golden Globe nominations for the film.

DeVito and Schwarzenegger have worked on other projects together, including the documentary Revenge of the Electric Car and DeVito’s animated series Little Demon. But the world is ready for another feature film of the iconic duo. Word on the street is that there will be another Twins sequel at some point. It’s allegedly titled Triplets and has been in the works for over a decade. Until then, we can all get our kicks hearing about their real-life friendship.

DeVito Comes Face-to-Face With Schwarzenegger’s Donkey and Miniature Horse When He Visits

“We tend to see each other at his house rather than go out,” DeVito told The Times. “He’s doing a series in Canada, but now that we old guys have [iPhones], we can randomly FaceTime each other, which is kind of a trip.”

And when DeVito gets the opportunity to go over to Schwarzenegger’s house, it seems he gets quite the view. The 4’10” actor is over a foot shorter than his buddy, who has an affinity for extremely gigantic pets. Those include a miniature horse named Whiskey, a donkey named Lulu, and dogs Cherry, Noodle, and Dutch.

“The animals just roam around all over the place — they’re coming to getcha! Ha ha! It’s, like, ‘What’s that?’ ‘Oh, it’s a horse.’ ‘A HORSE?!’ Arnold loves his animals, and he still smokes his stogies,” DeVito said.

Schwarzenegger Smokes Stogies and DeVito Likes Weed

That’s right. The super-focused bodybuilder smokes stogies at 75. Schwarzenegger actually told Jimmy Kimmel that DeVito smokes those cigars with him. And at one point, he snuck a bunch of weed in and gave it to him. They were on lunch break while filming Junior. DeVito invited him into his trailer and fed him Italian food and coffee.

“He said, ‘Arnold, you always give me cigars. And I always feel guilty. I have cigars. This time, I want to give you a cigar.’ And then I said ‘well, finally,’ I said, ‘Danny, this is really great.’ He gives me this cigar — a really long one. Beautiful cigar, Montecristo and Rosario. And so, I put it in my mouth and light it up… We light it up and I’m smoking it. And it was fantastic.”

At this point, Arnold looks off in the distance as he remembers the moment.

“We get to the set. We continue on with the scene. I forgot my lines. I’m sitting in front of the camera. It was a close-up of me. Danny’s behind the camera. The director says ‘Action,’ Ivan Reitman. And I said, uh… I forgot everything. I find out that an hour and a half later, when I finally started remembering things again, that Danny put some marijuana in the front of the cigar.”

“I was stoned out of my mind,” he recalled.

They Both Love Pulling Pranks on Each Other

Schwarzenegger didn’t seem to mind too much though, admitting that he loves to pull pranks on DeVito, too. He actually tried to get back at him with the same trick, but it didn’t work. DeVito knows the smell of weed. “He has a nose for marijuana,” Schwarzenegger said. “I gave him the cigar and he says, ‘Ah, there’s some grass in it’ so it didn’t work.”

Arnold also told Kimmel that he’s always looking for new projects with his old pal. DeVito echoed that sentiment when speaking with The Times. When asked if they had anything else up their sleeves, he said “Trying to! Lucy and Jake and Arnold’s peeps are looking for something for us to do, because we love working together and we still got a lot of gumption in us.” Lucy and Jake are DeVito’s children, along with his daughter Grace.
