The country icon appeared on an episode of The View where she discussed her highly anticipated project, telling co-host Joy Behar, “If I’m going to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, I better do something to earn it. So I’m doing a rock ‘n’ roll album and I’m having a lot of the rock stars that I met that night be on the album with me.”

Parton went on to say that she and McCartney are singing a song together and revealed that her song with Nicks has been finished the night before. The singer had previously stated her new album, titled Rock Star,  is said to come out sometime this year, but there has been no official release date yet.

The collection is said to be composed of several classic rock covers and originals,  Steve Perry and Steven Tyler are also said to be part of the album. Back in December during an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer stated at the album is “going to have a lot of great, iconic songs like [Prince’s] ‘Purple Rain,’ [the Rolling Stones’] ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,’ [Led Zeppelin’s] ‘Stairway to Heaven’ [and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s] ‘Free Bird.’”

She went on to tell The View that she’s trying to get Mick Jagger to perform on a cover of the Rolling Stones’, “Satisfaction,” but instead “Pink and Brandi Carlile are gonna be singing on that particular song with me.” Carlisle and Pink had previously joined forces to perform with Parton at her fall Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

She had initially declined the induction, saying that since her career had been mostly based in country music, there were other artists who deserved the honor. But, she later changed her mind and was inducted back in November, prompting the full Rock album.

We can’t wait to listen to it!
