It’s just that she will now be talking about her new hobbies. Hey, you gotta do something during retirement.

So DeGeneres, 64, is indeed making her way back to the small screen — or in this case, the really small screen. Her new effort, About Time For Yourself… with Ellen, is billed as a short series that has already begun on her YouTube channel.

About Time For Yourself… with Ellen

This comes five months after her hanging it up on the long-running and successful Ellen, and features her trying out hobbies such as crocheting, bird watching and card making. Under most circumstances, those things wouldn’t be activities that an audience would find entertaining.

But this is Ellen.

“After stepping out of the spotlight of her iconic talk show, Ellen is trying something bold and new — being unemployed,” the press release announcing the YouTube show read.

“In the wake of the Great Resignation, she’s reconnecting with her audience who may also have more time on their hands, and if not, could certainly use some. In this new series shot at her home, Ellen shares her own attempts to try new things and make a little me time in her own very Ellen way.”

DeGeneres also promoted the show in an online video.

“Lately, I’ve been taking some time just for myself, away from the cameras, and I’ve been having such a great time, I thought I would share some of what I’ve been doing with you,” she said.

The final Ellen aired on May 19 after five seasons.
