A fan Twitter account devoted to Ellen Pompeo confirmed Wednesday that she is scaling back her appearances on the show.

On Wednesday afternoon, the fan Twitter feed @PompeoSource retweeted posts TVLine that clarified why the actress won’t be as much of a Grey’s Anatomy staple in Season 19.

Ellen Pompeo will only appear in a “limited capacity due to another program for which she recently agreed to join.

Ellen Pompeo’s New Gig

Pompeo’s new starring role will be part of an eight-episode, yet-untitled limited series on Hulu.

Specifically, the program will revolve around the true story of a couple who adopts what they believe is an 8-year-old girl with a rare form of dwarfism,.”

In addition, Pompeo will not only act in but also produce the new series, according to WIONews.

Pompeo didn’t waste any time publicly airing a gripe she has with Grey’s Anatomy after the casting news hit the Internet. She made her critical comments on her podcast, called Tell Me.

Pompeo criticized Grey’s Anatomy both for being “preachy” and for not intertwining social issues into its storylines, per Variety.

“I think if I had any desire honestly it would be to be less sort of preachy in one episode about certain things,” Pompeo reportedly said. “It’s like, we do one episode about let’s see… Asian hate crimes is one that we did this past season that was really moving. I think I’d like to see things happen a little more subtly and over time. You know, consistently and less sort of hit you over the head for just one hour and then we never talk about it again.”

Two years ago, Pompeo became the only one of the original interns to remain on the TV series.

Grey’s Anatomy first aired on March 27, 2005. Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy will start airing on October 6.

In fact, Ellen Pompeo appeared in all 400 episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.
