A Long-Awaited Christmas Reunion

CNN recently announced that, just in time for the holidays, Love Actually cast members recently got back together for a special next week.

The program’s title is self-explanatory: The Laughter & Secrets of ‘Love Actually’: 20 Years Later – A Diane Sawyer Special. It premieres Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, a partner network of CNN.

Hulu will subsequently stream the reunion, which will feature Knightley, Neeson, Firth, among others.

A Rom-Com with a Tough Shoot

The reunion is set to include Hugh Grant, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, and other actors from Love Actually. But regardless of what they say in the special, a memory that Grant previously shared revealed the production was tough.

Specifically, Grant recoiled in a 2019 interview when thinking back to the movie’s iconic dancing scene. The British actor told Variety that shooting the dance number, in which he trots along to the Pointer Sisters’ classic “Jump (For My Love)” was “absolute hell.”

“I thought, ‘That’s going to be excruciating, and it has the power to be the most excruciating scene ever committed to celluloid,’” Grant reflected. He made the comments in Hugh Grant: A Life on Screen, a documentary that looked back on his career.

In the same doc, Love Actually director Richard Curtis reportedly complimented Grant’s dancing abilities. Co-star Colin Firth, however, teased the actor for making “a terrible fuss” about the scene.
