Michael Keaton and Courteney Cox’s relationship lasted from 1989 to 1995.
“Relationships are tougher than I thought,” she told USA Today in 1997. “And I’ve got a lot of work to do on myself.”
She offered some hope for her colleagues by adding: “Actors dating actors can work out. The most important thing is to be with someone who’s creative and passionate about what they do.”
Two years later, Cox married Arquette, as Us Magazine noted. Between the time they started dating and when they split in October 2010, they spent more than a decade together.
Cox later told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show, in January 2013, that he was her “best friend in the world. I love him.”
She reportedly recommended that people avoid divorce if possible, even though she said it worked out for her and Arquette.

Michael Keaton and Courteney Cox didn’t get married, even though they were together for about six years. Some outlets say it started in 1990 instead of 1989.
Their relationship started after she told a mutual friend she liked his performance in Clean and Sober in 1988, according to Us Magazine.
Cox told People that she and Keaton bonded together as they shared their visions of dream houses.
“We talked for five hours,” Cox said. “We talked about our dream homes — the great ones we’d seen and the kind we’d like to build ourselves.”
Cox said Keaton never proposed to her, despite frequent rumors that they were close to a wedding. After they broke up, Keaton kept his private life out of the public eye.
“But Keaton and Cox never did kiss and make up,” Amomama.com reported. “Keaton never again allowed any of his relationships to become public, and since Cox, if he has dated, only he knows the identity of the mysterious women he’s caught on camera with.”
