Chelsea Handler has a lot on her mind these days — especially as the country once again debates the issue of abortion. In fact, Handler might even have so much to say that she’s headed back to late-night TV.

The outspoken Handler gave further support to the theory when she talked with Entertainment Tonight in an interview published Wednesday.

When asked whether she’s considering a possible return, Handler replied: “Yes, absolutely. I’m moving in that direction.”

Amid the ceaselessly heated, ever-growing political debates occurring in the U.S., a Handler comeback would make sense. She carries a well-deserved reputation for never making excuses when it comes to her strong points of view.

Even more than that, Handler would help level an imbalance that continues to haunt late-night talk shows: a dearth of female hosts.

She addressed that issue as well in the ET interview.

“There is a lack of female representation in late-night, and I can do that job,” she said. “I’ve done it before and I’m gonna do it again.”

Handler continued: “It’s enough to have a bunch of guys that are on our side and are speaking up on behalf of us, but it’s not the same as having a woman.”

Chelsea Handler’s History as a Talk-Show Host

From 2007 to 2014, Handler hosted Chelsea Lately on E! She then captained the simply titled Chelsea on Netflix from 2016 to 2017.

Nevertheless, Handler continues making headlines — if not as regularly as before, then at least occasionally now. She revealed on a new podcast episode of Race to 35 posted last week that she had an abortion at 16 years old.

Also recently, Comedy Central tapped Handler as one of the guest hosts for The Daily Show early next year, per The Hollywood Reporter. Trevor Noah recently announced he was through with manning the program. His final episode airs tonight.

Hey, if Jon Stewart can make a comeback after departing his late-night hosting gig on The Daily Show, why can’t Chelsea Handler do the same?
