A new documentary about disgraced former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle might give you nightmares. Made famous for claiming to have lost 245 pounds from eating Subway sandwiches, Fogle was later arrested and convicted of pedophilia. Jared From Subway: Catching a Monster is a three-part Investigation Discovery crime documentary that focuses on Rochelle Herman, a journalist-turned-FBI informant who recorded Fogle’s dark secrets. “We should try to get some child porn videos to watch together,” he told her.

Jared From Subway Documentary Tells the Story of the FBI Informant Who Discovered His Secret

Jared Fogle quickly shot to fame in 2000 after attributing hundreds of pounds of weight loss to a Subway diet while he was studying at Indiana University from 1998 to 1999. He became a pop culture sensation, known as “Jared from Subway.” For the next 15 years, Fogle starred in hundreds of Subway commercials and other media appearances.

In 2004, Fogle started the Jared Foundation, a nonprofit that claimed to raise awareness of childhood obesity. He appointed Russell Taylor as the nonprofit’s director. According to USA Today, the nonprofit failed to give out one single grant as promised during its entire existence.

Then in 2015, both Jared Fogle and Russell Taylor were arrested on charges of child pornography.

Taylor’s home was raided in April followed by Fogle’s home a few months later. Taylor was charged with producing child pornography after authorities discovered more than 400 videos and photos that he made of minors between March 2011 and April 2015. According to reports, Taylor had used hidden cameras to take footage of a dozen children as young as 9 years old while they were changing, showering, and bathing. He was sentenced to 27 years and his wife, Angela Baldwin, was sentenced to 33 years of prison.

Jared Fogle was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography as well as traveling interstate to have sex with two minors, ages 16 and 17. He was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months of prison and a lifetime of supervision. His now ex-wife and mother of his two children, Kathleen McLaughlin, promptly divorced him.

The quick fall from grace led to Subway abruptly cutting ties with the former spokesperson. “The level of perversion and lawlessness exhibited by Mr. Fogle is extreme,” said U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt at his sentencing.

Jared Fogle’s Admissions to Rochelle Herman Are Deeply Disturbing

But it gets worse. While FBI documents never name Rochelle Herman, they do claim that Fogle’s conversations were recorded by witnesses in Florida, Georgia, and Washington. And according to Herman, it was actually she who initially brought Fogle to the FBI’s attention.

Rochelle Herman and Jared Fogle met in 2006 when she hosted him on her local Florida radio show. After Fogle admitted to Herman that he was attracted to middle school girls, she became gravely concerned. She attributed her “journalist instincts” to finding out more. So, after prying a bit into what exactly Fogle was talking about, she reported him to the FBI. Not only was he attracted to minors, but he actually had sex with them.

“He would tell me the ages he was interested, boy or girl,” Herman told ABC News in 2015. “He indicated the fact that he has done it before and told me in gross detail what transpired.”

Rochelle Herman has been openly discussing her dealings with Jared Fogle since before he pled guilty. She appeared on Dr. Phil in October 2015 and shared a trove of disturbing audio recordings wherein Jared can be heard talking about his disgusting sexual perversions. When Herman prompts him for more information, he audibly becomes more excited.

Rochelle Herman Shared Some of Jared’s Audio Recordings on Dr. Phil in 2015

“It gets worse. In the same recording, Jared flips very quickly from phone sex mode to a very matter-of-fact approach on how to lure children,” Dr. Phil says.

“Yes,” Herman responds.

“And how to gain their trust so they can be abused,” Dr. Phil continues.

An audio clip reveals that Jared admits to liking boys and girls of any age. When asked for clarification, Jared says, “Ok, see, I need to see if one of these little boys are a possibility for us. Would that turn you on?”

“Well, how would that happen?” Herman asks.

“Well, if we get ‘em segregated out, you know, in this thing where it’s just the three of us,” Jared Fogle says. “You know, we sort of just talking or whatever, and then we just start sharing stories and then, you know, we get a little closer, and a little closer, and a little closer, and before you know it, you know it’s — you know it just — it just starts to happen.”

Herman asks Fogle if that’s “hard to do” and he responds, “no, not at all.” Then Fogle starts sounding very turned on.

It’s absolutely terrifying, especially considering the fact that Fogle had a child-focused nonprofit that didn’t seem to actually serve its purpose.

Herman Says Her Life Was in Danger While She Was Undercover

While Rochelle Herman’s story is not new, the Investigation Discovery documentary will give her the chance to really tell it.

“As a journalist, I came to know Jared Fogle better than anyone,” Herman says in the official trailer. “I had evidence of Jared saying what he wanted to do. He was an active pedophile. I didn’t know where it would lead me. I just wanted to find out the truth.”

“Rochelle said, ‘Jared from Subway wants to see pictures of my kids naked,’” another man says in the trailer. “ ‘And if I don’t, he’s gonna kill me.’”

“He needed to be stopped,” Herman says. “That’s when I became an undercover asset for the FBI.”

Jared From Subway: Catching A Monster documentary premieres on Monday, March 6 on Investigation Discovery.
