Jay Leno is recovering after a close call in which he suffered third-degree burns in a gasoline fire, CNN reports.

The former Tonight Show host and avid car enthusiast reportedly sustained burns while working underneath a vehicle on Saturday.
Jay Leno’s Rough Injury
On Wednesday, a physician for Leno held a press conference to provide updates on the TV personality’s condition.
“When got pulled out from the area underneath the car, it was noted that he had pretty significant burns to face and hands,” Dr. Peter Grossman said, according to CNN. “His burns include his face, his hands, and his chest, the burns are fairly significant.”
Grossman reportedly provided even more detail: “Some of the burns to the face are a little deeper and a little more concerning. Right now they’re in that progression of somewhere between deep second and third-degree burns to the face. We’re hoping we can keep them from progressing by using these alternate treatments, including good wound care and hyperbaric oxygen and aggressive surgical management.”

All that said, Jay Leno is “doing well,” his friend Tim Allen told USA Today. That’s even though Leno admitted, “I got burned pretty bad.”
The most recent post on Jay Leno’s Instagram account reads: “The CNBC Family Wishes Jay Well in His Recovery.”
The cable-TV channel broadcasts Leno’s motoring reality-TV show, Jay Leno’s Garage, which airs weekly during primetime. The latest episode features Leno and President Joe Biden talking about hot rods and electric cars together.
The same Instagram post includes a hailstorm of well-wishings from fellow celebrities.
“We all do!” Everybody Loves Raymond actor and recent Jay Leno’s Garage guest Brad Garrett wrote, echoing the sentiments of CNBC. “Love ya Jay.”
