In a sneak peek of his first interview since the accident, the 52-year-old spoke with Diane Sawyer about what happened that scary day and how his recovery is going. When asked if he remembered the pain, the Marvel star stated, “Oh, all of it. I was awake through every moment.”

When asked about his injuries, which included more than 30 broken bones, Sawyer, 77, asked him about the moment he told his family ‘Sorry’ in sign language when he couldn’t speak following the incident.

“Yeah … ” Renner replied getting emotional and turning his head away. He went on to say he, “chose to survive,” saying, “You’re not gonna kill me. No way.” The actor underwent multiple surgeries after he survived the snow accident at his property outside Reno, Nevada. He was initially left in “critical but stable condition” after the snowplow, weighing at least 14,330 lbs, ran him over while he was helping his nephew get a vehicle out of the snow.

“I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium,” he went on to tell Sawyer. As to whether he sees “the same face” as before the terrible accident when he looks in the mirror, he smiled saying, “Nah, I see a lucky man.”

The Hawkey actor has been updating fans about his recovery since the accident. Just this Sunday, he went on to share a video of himself walking on a treadmill. On Twitter, he wrote, “I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will.”
