Jeremy Renner was reportedly trying to save his nephew from being run over by a snowplow when the vehicle began to slide and then crushed the actor, according to the incident report that was released by the authorities in Nevada.

The January 1st accident resulted in the 52-year-old suffering “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” resulting in 30 plus broken bones. According to a report that was obtained by CNN from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Renner used the machine in order to help move his adult nephew’s truck from the driveway after there was significant snowfall in the area.
However, the snow groomer then began to slide, causing Renner to “exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake” which caused the machine to begin moving sideways down a hill.
“Once he was off the PistenBully, he realized it was heading directly toward (his nephew),” the report read. “He feared the PistenBully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the PistenBully.”
The actor quickly re-enter the cab of the snow plow by climbing onto the moving truck, which then resulted in him being “pulled under the left side of the track,” according to the report.

It goes on to say that the actor’s nephew was able to render aid until the authorities arrived, and several family members went on to call 911. The report also found that the brake light indicator wasn’t working and “mechanical issues may have been a factor in the accident.”
“Although the PistenBully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the PistenBully from moving forward,” the report continued.
Renner was then airlifted to a local hospital where he had to undergo several emergency surgeries the next day and now faces quite a long recovery.
Despite the accident, The Mayor of Kingstown has been pretty upbeat, sharing updates on his progress. A few days after the incident he went on to thank everyone for the outpouring of support he has been receiving.
On Saturday, the actor shared a post on Instagram of himself in bed receiving physical therapy. In the caption, Renner wrote, “Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new year …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love ❤️.”
The actor went on to say that he wanted to “thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and…Much love and appreciation to you all.”
“These 30-plus broken bones will mend, grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens,” Renner continued. “Love and blessings to you all 🙏❤️🙏.”

Get well soon i had major surgery on my left ankle 2 plates 8 screws shaved bunion and removal of a ganglion cyst ugh . I know he didn’t want this to happen but he looks healthy and well taken cared of and he will recover soon . Prayers I love your movies
