It’s a small world, but even smaller when you grow up as the child of a celebrity in Hollywood. Kate Hudson’s son is now dating Leslie Mann’s daughter, and both families are elated. Ryder Robinson went Instagram official with Iris Apatow in February and young adults are still going strong.

But it seems that the Instagram post (which has since been removed) wasn’t the actual start of the relationship. In April of 2022, Ryder (18) posted another series of photos featuring Iris (20) and himself on Instagram. Those were captioned, “Happy anniversary my love.” The first photo showed them hugging and wearing identical Tom and Jerry t-shirts.
A source told People that the two love birds have known each other since they were young.
“They both live on the westside part of L.A. and grew up there,” the source divulged. “They both attended the same school in Santa Monica. They’ve known each other for a while… It’s a small, tight-knit celeb community over there… A lot of those kids have grown up together since they were really young.”

Iris was born on October 12, 2002, and graduated high school in 2021. She’s considered to be a Hollywood socialite due to her upbringing and the fact that her best friends are all stars. She’s often out and about with singer Olivia Rodriguez. But she’s also an actress and she’s off to a strong start.
Iris’ mom Leslie Mann is one of those unforgettable actresses due to her unique features and demeanor. She’s been on our screens since the early 90s and is known for films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and George of the Jungle.
Iris’ father and Leslie’s husband is Judd Apatow, an actor, director, writer, and producer. Judd Apatow happened to write and direct Knocked Up, which starred Leslie but also featured Iris. Iris has also been in other films, music videos, and shorts, including This is 40 and is Arya in the Netflix series Love. Ryder Robinson Is Following His Father’s Footsteps
Ryder was born on January 7, 2004, to actress Kate Hudson (Goldie Hawn’s daughter) and musician Chris Robinson. He’s the older brother of Bingham and Rani, who share the same mother but different dads (Matt Belamy and Danny Fujikawa, respectively).
Kate Hudson is well-known for her acting roles in movies such as Almost Famous, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Bride Wars. She also has a successful apparel company called Fabletics.
Chris Robinson is known as the lead singer of The Black Crowes, founded in 1984. He’s also the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for Chris Robinson Brotherhood, which was founded in 2011.
Ryder, too, plays guitar. His band is called Codependence and they can be spotted playing venues around Los Angeles. Kate has posted photos of herself and her stepdad Kurt Russell watching Ryder and his band playing at The Mint in LA. (Yeah, we know what you’re all thinking. Time to go watch Ryder’s band).
Moms Give Their Seals of Approval
In an interview with Iris Apatow and her mom Leslie Mann, E! News asked if Leslie approves of Iris’ boyfriend.
“Yes, of course,” Iris said, going on to say that her mom could “chaperone a date with me and Ryder because I know she loves him.”
Iris elaborated that her entire family loves Ryder.
And when the young couple shared their first Instagram photo together, Kate Hudson commented “Sweets.” Leslie Mann commented with heart emojis, and Maude wrote, “So cute.”
