Lily Allen and David Harbour Met and Fell in Love Thanks to a Dating App

The ‘Stranger Things’ star met the pop singer through an exclusive dating app called Raya.

Dating apps aren’t just for the riff-raff anymore. Stranger Things star David Harbour courted his wife, pop singer Lily Allen, on one of them — an exclusive dating app called Raya, he revealed in a recent interview.

“I started texting with her, she was in Italy at the time — we got together, went on a date at the Wolseley, and it was, you know, she’s f—ing unbelievable,” he told GQ.

Lily Allen’s Career

Lily Allen is a 37-year-old British singer and actress. Her brother is Alfie Allen, who played Theon Greyjoy on Game of Thrones.

Thus far, Lily Allen has four solo albums to her name: Alright, Still (2006); It’s Not Me, It’s You (2009); Sheezus (2014); and No Shame (2018).

Her last major tour was from 2018 to 2019, supporting her most recent record.

Lily Allen ventured has dabbled in acting as well, most notably playing Elizabeth Taylor in 2019’s How to Build a Girl. She also made her West end debut last year in a new play called 2:22 A Ghost Story. For her performance, she received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress.

In total, she has received 31 awards and 73 nominations for her popular music. She also has several nominations including one Grammy Award, one BRIT Award, three Ivor Novello Awards, twelve NME Awards and one Mercury Prize award.

David Harbour’s Career

Meanwhile, David Harbour’s list of credits is much more extensive. He is best known for his role as police chief Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, which won him a Critics’ Choice Television Award, as well as Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

Harbour’s starring roles include the title character in Guillermo del Toro’s 2019 film Hellboy. He also featured prominently in Black Widow, playing Red Guardian alongside Scarlett Johansson’s title character.

Additionally, he played supporting roles in Brokeback Mountain (2005), Quantum of Solace (2008), State of Play (2009), The Green Hornet (2011), End of Watch (2012), Snitch (2013), The Equalizer (2014), Black Mass (2015), Suicide Squad (2016), Sleepless (2017), and Extraction (2020).

The Stars’ Love Life

Harbour and Allen started dating in 2019 and married in September of the following year.

“She claims to have fallen in love at first sight with me – I mean, who wouldn’t?” Harbour told GQ.

“I remember the exact moment,” he added. “It was our third date. I was just in this phase where I was like, ‘I’m just going to be brutally honest about everything, because why lie?’ And I told her something about my life, about my beliefs. … It would take a really extraordinary person to be accepting of the things that I said. And I remember thinking: ‘Wow, that’s somebody I want to be around.’ “

David Harbour and Lily Allen tied the knot in Las Vegas at a wedding ceremony that an Elvis Presley impersonator officiated, according to People.

At the time, she was 35 years old, while he was 45 years old, according to the outlet. They reportedly ate at In-N-Out after the event.

“In a wedding officiated by the king himself, the people’s princess wed her devoted, low born, but kind credit card holder in a beautiful ceremony lit by the ashen skies courtesy of a burning state miles away in the midst of a global pandemic,” Harbour reportedly wrote about the ceremony.

The Stars’ Children

According to Marie Claire, David Harbour is a stepdad to Lily Allen’s children. As of June 17, 2021, they were Ethel and Marnie — 9 and 8 years old, respectively, according to People.

“My heart is just broken wide open and I have a new love I never had,” Harbour reportedly said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
