When most people think of Nicole Kidman, they don’t think, “Now there’s a singer.” Kidman is instead viewed accurately — as a famous actress. But sometimes, acting leads to signing, and when it comes to the latter, it appears Kidman has pulled it off. She joined Luke Evans for their own rendition of Say Something, a 2014 hit from Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World.
The song will be on Evans’ upcoming album, A Song For You.
Nicole Kidman and Luke Evans’s Sing ‘Say Something’
Evans said Kidman actually convinced him to sing together for the first time at a dinner party hosted by Kidman and her husband country singer Keith Urban.
“After dinner, Nicole was like: ‘Right, you’re singing, Keith’s gonna play the piano. He’ll play anything, just tell him the song,'” Evans said, via Entertainment Weekly. “So everybody came around the grand piano in their living room and I sang Adele’s Make You Feel My Love. I knew that Nicole loved to sing, so she was joining in.”
So when it came time for Evans to record “Say Something,” he wanted Kidman to join him.
“I already had that song in my head, because I knew that it would fit Nicole’s voice very well, that I could blend our voices,” he said, via EW. “So I sent them the track, and Keith was like, ‘Genius – I couldn’t have thought of a better track.'”
Kidman was all in.
“She was so grateful that I’d asked her. I was, like, ‘Grateful? You have no idea how grateful I am,” Evans said. “But she’s a lovely woman, and a friend, and very generous with their time. To do something like this was really special.”
