Not even the people involved know how Yellowstone will end.

At least, that is what Luke Grimes is telling everyone. Grimes, of course, plays Kayce Dutton on the smash hit from Paramount. He recently visited Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show and said he isn’t sure what the final outcome will be for the Dutton ranch.

“I think some of the cast know the end,” he said. “Some have been told, some haven’t.”

This appears to be by design, he added.

“I don’t think Taylor (Sheridan), who writes our show, wants me to know, either,” Grimes said. “I don’t know — it might affect the way you do something or play something. And it’s kind of fun to experience it this way, anyway. It’s sort of like life.”

A Mystery for All

Grimes, 38, has won lots of praise for his portrayal of Kayce, the son of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton III. In fact, some have even compared the character of Kayce to Michael Corleone of Godfather fame, as Fallon noted.

“Yeah, that’s kind of a reference throughout, but we’ll have to see. You know, I think that’s what we’re all kind of waiting to see: Can he come up and man up and do the things necessary to help the family keep the place or not? I think that’s what we’re all kind of watching to find out.”

Yellowstone‘s fifth season is in its mid-season break. It debuted to 12 million viewers back in November and will return over the summer. Spinoffs 1883 and 1923 have also drawn large audiences.
