American sweetheart Mandy Moore first appeared in households everywhere with her pop single, “Candy.” Remember? It was 1999, and the then blonde-haired super babe showed off her vocal pipes and dancing alongside skate scenes. It was all over MTV. Nearly a quarter century later, Moore is still making music — and some of that is with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith.

Mandy Moore’s Rise to Stardom

Moore was signed on to Epic Records as a teenager after a FedEx delivery driver, Victor Cade, overheard her making music at home. He recommended her to his friend who worked with Epic Records, and before she knew it, she was working on her first album.

When Mandy Moore’s first studio album, So Real, went platinum, Moore was only 15 years old. She continued making music and music videos, releasing her 7th studio album, In Real Life, on May 13, 2022. That and her 6th studio album, Silver Landings, feature her hubby Taylor Goldsmith on most of its tracks.

Moore started making TV appearances as herself in 2000 on shows like Nickelodeon’s All That and 2GE+Her: The Series. The following year, she made her first film debut. The very first credit in her film history was actually as a voice actor for Dr. Dolittle 2 as the Girl Bear Cub. That same year, she was back onscreen as Lana Thomas from The Princess Diaries, starring Anne Hathaway.

Mandy Moore’s acting roles started putting her at center stage (or screen) after 2001. In 2002, she starred in A Walk to Remember and All I Want. The singer-actress has continued gracing the silver and small screens up to present day, simultaneously pumping out studio albums in the midst of her busy acting schedule. Notably, her most recent role was the matriarch and wife Rebecca Pearson on This Is Us. Her role as Rebecca Pearson earned her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, as well as two Screen Actors Guild awards as part of the ensemble cast.

Who is Mandy Moore’s Husband, Taylor Goldsmith?

Taylor Goldsmith is the front man of the band Dawes. He’s the main songwriter, lead singer, and lead guitarist. Dawes started up in 2009, after shifting from its previous name and musician ensemble, Simon Dawes (which started in 2002). As band members shifted, so too did the sound —Simon Dawes went from post-punk but Dawes today is American folk rock.

Luckily for the love birds, Mandy Moore was a huge fan of Dawes. In fact, if she hadn’t fangirled out on Instagram one day, the two may have never met. Moore once told People that she met Goldsmith on Instagram.

“I took a picture of their album and posted it on Instagram,” Moore said. “Somehow, Taylor saw it and sent a note to me. We started emailing back and forth, then we went on a date and the rest is history. Thanks Instagram, for helping me meet my fiancé!”

The album cover was almost a good omen to what was to come. It featured a string of portraits of Goldsmith’s face, quaintly hung across a wall. “Real excited about this one,” Moore captioned. “Have a feeling it’s going to be the soundtrack of my summer. #Dawes #rightontime

Dawes’ most recent album, Misadventures of Doomscroller, was released recently. His loving wife posted the album to her Instagram (yet again).

And Goldsmith has been adept at keeping up his own career while supporting Moore’s. He was a major part of her last two albums, released in 2020 and 2022. When he was touring, he simultaneously made time for Moore. Prior to getting engaged, they’d FaceTime each other. Further, he took time off from touring to support her at the Emmy’s in 2017.

Moore also appeared in one of Dawes’ music videos, “Roll With the Punches,” in 2017.

Moore Was Previously Married to Ryan Adams

Before meeting the love of her life, Mandy Moore was married to singer-songwriter and producer, Ryan Adams. They married in 2009 and divorced in 2016. People reports that they’d been separated for a while prior to their divorce. Moore attributes much of her healing to her current hubby, Goldsmith.

“I was still dealing with the trauma of my divorce when we started dating,” she told Glamour. “Taylor was steadfast in his support—that was a huge sign for me.”

Moore has repeatedly come out and said that her relationship with Adams was toxic and that she felt “stuck” with him and his controlling behavior. The New York Times published a scathing piece wherein Moore and seven other women accused Adams of manipulative behavior. Moore accused Goldsmith of psychological abuse. She told the New York Times that “his controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time—my entire mid-to-late 20s.”

Moore also told Bustle that her art suffered due to the alleged abuse that was deeply affecting her. “When I think back to that particular time period that we’re talking about … It was heavy,” she said. “It was dark… confusing… lonely. There was no room for me. There was no room for me to have anything else in my life.”

Happily Ever After: Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith’s Growing Family

Taylor Goldsmith proposed to Mandy Moore in September 2017 and the couple got married in Pasadena, California in November 2018. They announced their first pregnancy in September 2020. The couple gave birth to a boy, Augustus Harrison Goldsmith, the following year.

Here is baby Gus.

Baby #2 is on the way, too! The announcement was made as Moore was about to embark on her tour for her album, In Real Life.

On June 3, Taylor posted an adorable photo of Gus as a toddler, with the following caption:

“Gus is gonna be the best big brother. @mandymooremm is gonna be the best MomOf2. There’s a good chance I’m the happiest, luckiest person you know (or just follow) and now we’re gonna double it.”

Earlier this year, Momma Moore posted a gorgeous photo of herself in a chiffon gown, her hand cradling her belly.

“37+ weeks captured by my dear friend @photobyjennajones,” read the caption. “Thank you, Jenna, for documenting so many moments (big and small) in my life and always being down for a last-minute adventure…”

They welcomed their second baby, Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett Goldsmith in October! She shared the news on social media, alongside several black and white photos. “Every adage is true: our hearts have doubled in size and the immediacy of the love is astounding. He is beyond words and we are so grateful for our family of four!” she noted.

“One incredibly seminal chapter of my life just ended and the next one, as a mother of two, is about to start … and are we ever so deeply grateful and excited. Baby Boy Goldsmith #2 coming this fall!” she added, “Gus is gonna be the BEST big brother!! Xo.”
