Margot Robbie is widely considered one of the most beautiful women in the industry today. She’s also an exceptional actress who will do just about anything to accurately portray her character. Just don’t ask her to appear in Playboy.

After all, late founder Hugh Hefner once did exactly that, and Robbie turned the opportunity away.

That was back in 2014, right when Robbie was starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street. She had already appeared nude in the movie when Hefner came calling.

“The girl that plays [Jordan Belfort’s] wife in [Wolf of Wall Street] is very, very pretty,” Hefner told Us Weekly at the time. “She should be in Playboy. Send her a message! We’re ready for her. She would be great.”

Again, Robbie declined. She was just 23-years old at the time.

“I’ve put my family through enough,” she told New Zealand radio station, The Edge.

Robbie was likely referring to the nude scenes in the movie, which she actually insisted on doing, as long as they pushed the movie forward. She wasn’t going to do a nude scene just because, though.

“I think nudity for the sake of nudity is shameful,” she said at the time. “If they’ve put it in just so that a girl gets her top off, then that’s disgusting. And you can always tell.

“But I also think it’s disgusting when someone would have got naked in real life, in the film they conveniently leave their bra on, or hold up the bed sheet. Seeing someone being choreographed into being covered up irritates me just as much.”

So when Scorsese suggested Robbie could wear a robe during the nude scenes, she also declined.

“She has to be naked,” Robbie said she told Scorsese of her character. “She’s laying her cards on the table.”

So Robbie, 32, did what she could to advance the film. But she wasn’t about to do it for Playboy.

Along with Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie has starred in such films as I, Tonya, Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, and Amsterdam. She will also soon play Barbie in the romantic comedy of the same name that’s based on the fashion doll.
