Megyn Kelly publicly blasted Tom Brady after saying that the NFL legend sacrificed his marriage to Gisele Bündchen in order to play an additional year of football was essentially giving her “the middle finger.” The anchor reacted to Brady’s retirement after he announced through a video on social media saying he was officially retiring saying, “I wouldn’t change a thing.”

The comment didn’t quite sit well with Kelly, as she stated, “You [Tom Brady] wouldn’t change the part at the end where you lost your wife of 13 years because you wouldn’t retire? A thing that you decided to do 365 days later.”
“Honestly, Tom Brady seems like a rather sweet guy,” she added. “I don’t know if he’s evil-hearted. He’s amazing as a football player, but the collapse of your marriage over one extra year of football seems like something one should regret.”

The football player had first announced his retirement last year, only to change his mind and play this past season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to several sources, his decision led to arguments between the couple. Although Kelly doubted that Brady’s decision to return to football is what split the marriage, she left open the possibility that it was one of the main reasons.
“If that really was the reason, he lasted one more year,” Kelly stated. “For one year, he lost his spouse. Where’s the self-sacrifice? Where’s the mature decision to say, ‘I will table my one year to sacrifice, for you, my spouse; to sacrifice for the sake of my marriage and for the sake of my children to have their family remain together’?”
She went on to speculate as to what the supermodel has been thinking about the whole incident. “What would it be like to be Gisele [Bündchen] today?” She asked. “Gisele Bündchen is waking up to her next big photo shoot and sees [Tom Brady’s announcement].” She also wondered what the conversation between the former couple would sound like.
“‘Okay, so you [Tom Brady] could have saved the marriage a year ago when I begged you to do this and you refused’,” she noted.
“‘And you decided for 300-plus days, it wouldn’t be worth it to lose me, cause all this heartache to our children, blow up our beautiful life. For what? For one season?
She added, “I mean, just the insult. And even if that is what actually happened, what a middle finger. “That isn’t a good marriage. That is somebody who’s not actually connected and in love and intimately involved in the way you would expect and want your spouse to be.”
Takes 2 MK. She could have remained loyal to TB for 1 more year but she already made her choice. She chose nit to stand by him even after he publicly stated he would play until he was 45. So she is no angel here as proven by quickly moving on with her new relationship
But you Megyn have a myopic view and take 1 side where clearly not considering the selfishness of Giselle.
Megyn Kelly, I really thought you were smarter than that. Do you really think that football was the only thing that broke these two up? It might have added to it, but it was a lot more than Brady wanting to play one more year of football that broke them up. Smh…
I agree, he sacrificed his family for more than one year, His wife wanted him to retire way before, but she stood by him, he did not give her the respect she deserved by giving her a voice and he lost his family! Obviously it was not important to him to work it out for the sake of his marriage.
Giselle knew what she was getting into when she first married Tom. Football is his first love, something he has worked very hard for all of his life. He has achieved more than most professional athletes & he has had to sacrifice along the way with strenuous work outs, practices, watching game films, learning plays, eating healthy foods, watching his alcohol intake, staying away from drugs and bad influences..etc. Giselle has had to also work out, watch her diet, travel alot when maybe she didnt feel like it..etc. Is she ready to give up her career yet? Probably not if she still loves it and it is her passion! Was Tom demanding that SHE quit what she loves doing? Somehow when kids enter the equation, you figure out how to balance work & responsibility with raising a family. Both of them appear to be really good parents! Both of them have more money than they know what to do with. They have both taken their kids on some vacations that most people only dream about! They will continue to do so. The kids are old enough now that they enjoy being with their friends alot more than when they were younger. Giselle will continue to work. Tom will continue to work. The kids will continue to be with both of them because they are loved by both of them, alot! It is a time for healing broken hearts. No one needs to go on a “guilt trip”. Every day is a new day to be thankful for. 🙏
sometimes all good things come to an end.. 13 years is a total commitment.
I guess if giving up one more year of football is such a simple thing to do, then being understanding in another year of football is likewise no big thing, so I guess supporting each other and tolerance is a one way street and getting divorce is the correct snswer
No one knows what happens between a couple – it sounded like they were having problems in their relationship so Brady retired to help save the marriage – he in-retired when he realized that would not save his marriage. Who knows if THAT scenario is accurate? It’s silly and unfair to try to judge a relationship that is not your own. You cant always know even when it’s your own marriage – spoken by a woman who has been married for 50.5 years!!
