‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ Re-Boot Lands More To Its All-Star Cast

Amazon Prime Video is working on a series reboot of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The revival of the 2005 romantic action comedy that starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has a growing all-star cast of its own.

It was recently reported that the series was adding three new members to its cast. Paul Dano, Michaela Coel, and John Turturro have been added to a cast that already includes Donald Glover and Maya Erskine.

Glover and Erskine will star in the title roles of John and Jane, the married couple who find out that they’re both assassins hired by rival agencies to kill each other. The details of the roles for the newly announced cast members are being kept under wraps at the moment.

Turturro has made appearances in several Coen brothers’ movies

Coel is best known for I May Destroy You. A the limited series she created, directed, and executive produced, as well as starred in. She received four Emmy nominations and won the award for best writing for a limited series.

Turturro has made appearances in several Coen brothers’ movies over the years such as Barton Fink, Miller’s Crossing, and The Big Lebowski. He most recently worked on the Apple series Severance.

As for Dano, his role as The Riddler in The Batman was well received. He’s also appeared in movies several other movies like There Will Be Blood, Love & Mercy, and Little Miss Sunshine.

Glover doesn’t just star in the Mr. & Mrs. Smith reboot

Glover doesn’t just star in the Mr. & Mrs. Smith reboot. The multi-talented 38-year-old also serves as a co-creator and executive producer on the series alongside Francesca Sloane. Sloane, in addition to her roles as co-creator and executive producer, is the series’ showrunner.

New Regency’s Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer are also serving as executive producers on the show.

The exact release date for the new Mr. & Mrs. Smith series hasn’t been announced yet. In an Instagram Story last year Glover said the series would be debuting on Amazon Prime Video sometime in 2022.

That announcement was made before the initial female lead, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, left the project. She parted ways with the series due to “creative differences” in September of 2021. It’s not known how that affected the series’ timeline.
