The people have spoken, they want Neve Campbell back! Scream VI is set to hit theaters on March 10th, but it’s the first time in the film’s franchise that Campbell won’t be making an appearance. The actress confirmed the terrible news back in June 2022, telling Deadline through a statement,  “As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to ‘Scream’. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

She went on to add, “It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my ‘Scream’ fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”

As the release of the new film is getting closer, and a new trailer dropping this week, several fans on Twitter have been causing a scene, giving the film backlash over Campbell’s absence. Several fans have called out Paramount for not paying the actress what she deserved,  in order to star in the franchise one more time.

“Y’all had the budget for all of that but not enough to pay Neve Campbell what she deserves?? @ParamountMovies @ParamountPics,” one stated. Another one noted, “scream without a Campbell doesn’t seem right. but good for her standing up for herself and not being ok with the pay.”

One user even compared Campbell with Jamie Lee Curtis, saying, “Imagine Halloween without Jamie Lee Curtis… oh wait. Those were the worst movies in the franchise.”

Despite not being involved this time around, there are still some connections to the Scream legacy in the new sequel, with Courtney Cox returning as Gail Weathers. The new film is all set to feature the return of Scream 4 star Hayden Panettiere, along with Scream 5 Stars Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, and Jasmin Samy Brown.  The location of the film has changed this time around, as Ghost Face follows a stars in New York City.
