The acclaimed 20th Century Studios is releasing additional details about the Alien film that will begin production on March 9th in Budapest.
Film Details
The movie will be directed by Fede Alvarez. A premiere date for the film hasn’t been released. There is no title for this new Alien installment. The film will follow “a group of young people on a distant world [who] find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
One of the stars shared the new on her Instagram page. “Don’t even know what to say.. don’t even know what I would say if I could say,” the post read.
This screenplay was written by Alvarez alongside Rodo Sayagues. It will be executive co-produced by Michael Pruss, Brent O’Connor, Elizabeth Cantillon, and Tom Moran.
Dream Team
In addition to this new film, a television series is in the works with FX. It will start production this year as well. John Landgraff, the FX boss, shared details about the new project.
“It’s the first story in the Alien franchise that takes place on Earth. It takes place on our planet, near the end of this century we’re currently in — 70-odd years from now. All I can tell you is Ripley won’t be a part of it, and neither will any other characters — other than the alien itself.”
The series is said to be separate from the new film.
Fans have expressed their excitement for both of the new projects.
“Oh I can’t wait to see this, these movies are so good and scary.I love it can’t wait,” a user posted to one of the film media forums.
More details will be released as the film inches further to its production date.
