This same location is where Ledger died from an accidental prescription drug overdose on January 22, 2008. The official report from the chief medical examiner at the time stated that, “Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Diazepam, Temazepam, Alprazolam, and Doxylamine. We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.”

Years after Heath’s death, his father did an interview with news.com.au. He shared that he didn’t believe that his son was suffering from an addiction. He attributed the use of the prescriptions to the “pressure[s]” of fame.

“There is pressure on everybody, especially young people, to perform and to keep going. He was a young guy that traveled all the time for work. Even as a 2-year-old, he hardly ever slept. He was trying to work and travel and do everything in a short space of time.”

“[He] mixed a couple of drugs together with sleeping tablets and he’s gone forever. That’s something we just have to deal with,” he shared.

He first moved into the Soho loft from Brooklyn after he broke things off with his partner Michelle Williams. Fans brought flowers to the residential location in honor of the late actor and his legacy in Hollywood.

The building has undergone several renovations and upgrades since the actor took up residence there. The previous rentals are now condos and two additional floors have been added.

The building from 1920 now has several residential spaces. On the fifth, sixth, and seventh floors is a triplex penthouse. The third floor has a three-bedroom loft and the second floor has a two-bedroom space. The fourth floor apartment, which used to belong to Ledger, is 4,4000 square feet and has three bedrooms.
