Another day, another accusation against Meghan Markle. It was recently announced that Markle and Prince Harry are about to be honored with the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award. But some people are saying they don’t deserve it. The Sussexes are being accused of pursuing “vengeance against the monarchy.”

Sussexes to Be Honored With Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award

The Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award has been given out for nearly half a century. Its purpose is to honor “exemplary leaders across government, business, advocacy, and entertainment who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social change and worked to protect and advance equity, justice, and human rights.” This year’s ceremony takes place on December 6. In addition to the Sussexes, other recipients will be Frank Baker, Brian Moynihan, Michael Polsky, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the late Bill Russell.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are being given the award for standing against “structural racism” within the Royal Family.

Critics Think Markle Doesn’t Deserve the Award, Accuse Her of Ulterior Motives

However, some in the UK (and other parts of the world) think that the award is undeserved. Mostly, this line of thought is occurring in conjunction with the idea that the Sussexes have an axe to grind with the Royal Family. So, therefore, their stand against racism is nothing more than picking an unwarranted fight.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told Express.co.uk that “We visually see and hear very little about Harry and Meghan contributing to anything but their pursuit of vengeance against the monarchy.”

“When I think of humanitarians, I think of Princess Diana walking through a minefield, Doctors Without Borders, or Elizabeth Taylor co-founding The Foundation for AIDS Research,” she said. “Not a woman that releases a weekly podcast vaguely complaining about a word used to describe her four years ago.”

Ms. Schofield’s comment is one of many criticisms directed towards Markle in the recent past.

Megyn Kelly Accused Meghan Markle of Faking Racism Claims

Just last month, Megyn Kelly went on a tangent against Markle. It was the third time in about a month that Kelly ripped into the actress-turned-royal. On her list of complaints was the fact that Markle calls Harry “my husband,” “obsessive image-crafting” on her podcast, her and Harry’s “appetite for ripping on the Royals,” and her claims that she suffered from racist attitudes and comments from the Royal family.

Markle came out on Oprah last year with more detail on what kind of racism she was experiencing. Although she and Harry didn’t name any names, they confirmed that there was ongoing concern over the color of baby Archie’s skin prior to his birth. Markle said that similar discussions occurred on more than one occasion.

Making matters worse for Meghan Markle is the fact that a recent, unauthorized biography recently came out. Investigative journalist and royal author Tom Bower accused Markle of clout-chasing and engaging in patterns of social climbing while leaving behind a trail of “victims.”

Tabloids have incessantly torn into Meghan Markle as well. The Globe published a piece this past summer accusing her of being a “mastermind” over her “puppet” husband. It claimed to quote an insider who accused Markle of having an ultimate goal of being in the White House while calling Prince Harry a “ventriloquist dummy.”

Meghan Markle Was Warned About Tabloids “Destroying Her Life” if She Married Prince Harry

In a documentary that aired a few years ago on London’s ITV, Markle admitted that she was warned about the tabloids and that she shouldn’t marry Prince Harry.

“It’s hard,” Markle said. “I don’t think anybody could understand that. In all fairness, I had no idea, which probably sounds difficult to understand here, but when I first met my now-husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy, but my British friend said to me, ‘I’m sure he’s great, but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life.’”

She added that she “didn’t get it” because she’s an American and not used to the tabloid scene. Now, of course, she surely gets it. The lady can’t get a break.

However, not everyone hates Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. As is obvious, because they’re about to be honored with the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award. And, despite what Ms. Schofield said, the Sussexes are continuously involved in philanthropic pursuits. This is clearly documented on their official Instagram account, @sussexroyal.

Some Call Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “Heroic” for Standing Against Structural Racism Despite Online Hate, Gossip

Although Robert F. Kennedy’s son, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., called the decision to give Meghan Markle and Prince Harry the award “bewildering,” his sister, Kerry Kennedy, had a different opinion. Kerry called the Sussex’s actions “heroic.”

“They went to the oldest institution in UK history and told them what they were doing wrong, that they couldn’t have structural racism within the institution; that they could not maintain a misunderstanding about mental health,” Kerry Kennedy said.

“They knew that if they did this there would be consequences, that they would be ostracized, they would lose their family, their position within this structure, and that people would blame them for it,” she said. Kerry added, “I think they have been heroic in taking this step.”

The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organization will host their annual gala in New York City on December 6. Tickets start at $2,500 and guests can RSVP here.
