Will R. Kelly’s controversies ever end?

The R&B singer (more like a pariah, at this point) is facing a fresh round of allegations. Chief among them is that R. Kelly offered to pay $1 million for the return of supposedly incriminating sex tapes.
A man named Charles Freeman, to whom Kelly allegedly offered the $1 million, testified Tuesday in the R&B star’s ongoing courtroom saga.
Freeman said the singer and his associates approached him in the early 2000s, Chicago Tribune reports. They allegedly asked Freeman for help finding an alleged video featuring Kelly sexually assaulting a teen girl.
After making that explosive claim, attorneys for Kelly and his co-defendants reportedly grilled Freeman for five hours during cross-examination. They insinuated that Freeman is a liar and opportunist who didn’t keep his facts straight about the alleged conspiracy.
The lawyers also claim it was actually Freeman who “tried to shake down or extort Mr. Kelly for money,” per the Tribune.
Needless to say, the defense lawyers were not kind to Freeman.
After one of the attorneys allegedly saw Freeman smiling, the lawyer shot back: “Is this funny? Are you having a good time?”
R. Kelly Fights Heinous Allegations
The latest development in the case happened after prosecutors accused him last week of having sex with minors multiple times.
Prosecutors further alleged that he recorded alleged sexual assaults. They said Kelly paid people who knew about those VHS tapes to remain quiet, NBC News reports.
In another bizarre twist last week, his fiancée Joycelyn Savage said she is pregnant with his child.
However, a lawyer for Kelly — who is a convicted sex offender — denied Savage’s claim.
Savage reportedly made the pregnancy claims in a new book available on Amazon. Titled Love and Joy of Robert, it is reportedly a short volume.
Kelly and Savage recently became engaged recently. He is reportedly using her to plead to a judge for leniency.
Kelly faces a 30-year prison sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking.
