Yung Gravy Gets Hundreds of Bras Thrown at Him On Stage

After Yung Gravy posted to his 7.2 million TikTok followers about his intentions to donate all the bras to women’s shelters, word got around.

The rapper’s video posted on November 28 had the simple caption “save the nip” below it. Footage of Yung Gravy getting practically smothered in fan bras accompanied a vow to donate the bras. He also promised to match the final value of the bras to a breast cancer foundation.

“So ladies, how much do you pay for a decent bra these days?” read the captions. The video also mentioned that Minneapolis saw a record 159 bras thrown on stage.

In less than a month, his video has received over 16 million views and nearly 3 million likes.

The I Support the Girls Foundation (ISTG) caught wind of Yung Gravy’s video and quickly responded. After getting tagged by other TikTok users, the rapper and the foundation connected. ISTG’s mission is to work with a wide network of affiliates to collect and distribute essential feminine items, including bras and hygiene products, to impoverished women in need of them.

“We flew out to Boise, Idaho for the last US show of the Baby Gravy Tour to personally accept the final count of 1,900 bras!!!” ISTG wrote on its TikTok account. “Thank you @yunggravy for these bras that will help restore dignity in so many women nationwide. Such a blast and incredible opportunity!”

But Yung Gravy didn’t just stop at handing off the clothing items. He actually donated 7 hours of his time.

ISTG founder Dana Marlow spoke with Narcity about the “thoughtful” rapper and her time sorting bras with him.

“He literally rolled up his sleeves for a long time,” said Marlowe. “We talked about why bras equate to dignity for so many women and what that means to a woman experiencing homelessness, who is keeping her breasts up with an old cracked leather belt, and will now have a new properly fitting bra for them.”

Marlowe added that they have a special cleaning process for the bras. Yung Gravy would get old and new bras were thrown at him, some with tags, but Marlowe said they’re still “all dirty.” It makes sense, considering they were thrown on the ground at one point.

“If it’s not something that you would give or donate to a close family member or very good friend, you’re not donating it out,” added Marlowe.

I Support The Girls Founder Called Yung Gravy “A Man of His Word”

The ISTG founder also said that Yung Gravy was working with her to coordinate how to donate the bras to many different homeless shelters and breast cancer non-profits. She said that they already had a long list of bra donation requests.

Marlowe praised Yung Gravy for being “a man of his word” and for following up his words with his actions.

“His generosity and willingness to do so and talk about it is going to help thousands of women in need,” she said.

What a sweetheart!
