Just Charlie Brown’s luck. Now his show has been canceled.

Actually, “canceled” may be a little bit harsh. But what we do know is that Charlie Brown won’t be around for Halloween.

That’s because if you want to watch the long-running annual special It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, you will have to view it somewhere other than regular television.

Instead, you only will be able to catch it on Apple+, which bought the rights to all Peanuts specials, as relayed by PBS. Basically, you can still watch the Charlie Brown Halloween show, just not for free.

That’s a change from the previous, oh, 56 years when the show first aired.

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Of course, this won’t just be limited to Halloween and pumpkins. The other Peanuts specials will also only be able to be viewed on Apple+. So plan on catching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas there, too.

This, of course, is sad news for those who don’t have Apple+, which remains the majority of Americans. In that sense, it likely feels like having the football pulled out from underneath you right when you’re about to kick it.

Sort of like someone else we know.
