As an ex-U.S. Marine Officer, comedian Rob Riggle surely braved his fair share of hazing rituals.

The Saturday Night Live alum took it to a whole new level on a recent episode of Running Wild, though. Rob Riggle recently ate pickled bull testicles alongside host Bear Grylls on the adventure reality show.

On Monday, Entertainment Weekly rolled out a new video showing clips from Riggle’s hike with Grylls through the Great Basin Desert.

Grylls uses the show’s conceit to take Riggle and other actors out of their comfort zone. Other recent guests include Natalie Portman, Florence Pugh, and Simi Liu.

Rob Riggle — also a former correspondent on The Daily Show — seemed to enjoy himself while on the hike with Grylls. In particular, he admired the “Rocky Mountain oysters,” or the polite way to refer to bull testicles, as EW notes.

After Riggle starts eating them, Grylls quickly replies, “Ew … wow.”

“What does it taste like to you?” Riggle coyly asks Grylls, who answers: “… Truly terrible.”

Rob Riggle later confesses to the viewing audience: “So, dinner tonight was unusual, some would say. I say it was awesome. Rocky Mountain oysters … we had testicles, and they were soaked in pickle juice, and they were … delicious.”

Clearly, Riggle knows sarcasm. But fortunately, he and Grylls chased the edible (?) testicles with river water.

Is That River Water Clean, Rob Riggle?

Hopefully, Riggle checked the water to make sure it was filtered. If not, then Grylls — who recently showed Portman how to make dirty water clean — probably did … right?

“It had a hint of that classic, moss, dirty sock taste…,” Rob Riggle mused.

Riggle appears on the season finale of Season 6 of Running Wild With Bear Grylls. The show airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET on National Geographic.

So, bull testicles, OK. As for those bagels… don’t even try to eat them.
