Good Morning America 3 (GMA3) anchors T.J. Holmes (45) and Amy Robach (49) have officially been taken off the air after bombshell news broke of their extramarital affair. The two have had obvious on-screen chemistry for years. Now, ABC executives are unsure about how to deal with the situation.

Good Morning America anchors Amy Robach and TJ Holmes May Have Both Cheated on Their Spouses During Affair

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes both married their spouses in 2010. Robach married Melrose Place actor Andrew Shue while T.J. Holmes married attorney Marilee Fiebig. The two couples have been known to double date together over the years.

The Daily Mail obtained and published a trove of photos and videos of Robach and Holmes together throughout the month of November and published them last week. They were spotted packing up for a trip while Holmes slapped Robach’s butt. They could be seen holding hands in a car, drinking, and snuggling at a bar after shooting an episode of GMA3 and accompanying each other to their respective New York City apartments.

Entertainment Tonight published an article about the co-anchor’s “secret romance” going on for longer than has been known to the public. According to an inside source, their relationship has been “going on in secret for quite some time, but how long is truly unknown.” They added that Robach and Holmes “did their best to keep things professional and private.”

Another source told ET that the extramarital bond formed over the course of years of work. “The two have a special bond that has been evident to staff for years,” they said, “so it’s not surprising a relationship has formed, but it is shocking that it has come to light in this way.”

TJ Holmes Allegedly Had Another Affair with Former GMA Producer Natasha Singh

Both Holmes and Robach allegedly called it quits with their spouses this past August. However, it’s not clear if their romance began prior to or after calling it quits. There are rumors that the affair began in March when Robach and Holmes were training together for the NYC half marathon.  Robach and Shue separated months ago and Robach moved into a new apartment. Meanwhile, it’s just been revealed that Holmes and Fiebig are seeking a divorce.

Page Six reports that GMA co-host Robin Roberts confronted Holmes and Robach about their relationship and told them to knock it off. An insider claims that this was years ago.

One insider told Page Six that Marilee Fiebig was “blindsided” by news of her husband’s affair. However, this isn’t Holmes’ first affair, according to The Daily Mail. Holmes allegedly had an affair with a married former Good Morning America producer, Natasha Singh, from 2016 and as late as 2018 or 2019. Singh and Robach were also close friends at the time. Despite his first infidelity, Fiebig stayed with him. But it seems that this time, they’re done.

Holmes and Robach Have Been Flirting, Subtly Referencing Their Relationship on the Show

After news broke out last week about the GMA3 anchors’ affair, the internet has gone wild with curiosity and gossip. On Friday, Robach and Holmes made some snarky and flirty references to the affair while hosting their 1 pm segment together.

“You know, it’s too bad it’s Friday. It’s been a great week,” said Holmes. Robach then started giggling nervously. “I just want this one to keep going and going and going,” Holmes continued. “Just enjoy it. Take it all in.”

“Speak for yourself,” Robach responded, blushing. “I’m excited about the weekend. And I’m sure everyone else is too. We all love our Fridays around here. Some of us do, at least.” Both Holmes and Robach were smiling from ear to ear and giggling.

Later in the show, the not-so-secret couple then made some very subtle references to stress reduction and possibly sex. They were speaking with co-host Dr. Jennifer Ashton, who mentioned that art therapy is a good way to relieve stress.

“We should get an art desk,” Robach said, laughing.

Holmes then added, “We are taking art classes this weekend, Dr. Ashton.” Both he and Robach were giggling.

It’s Unknown if ABC and Disney Will Keep Their Anchors

But the higher-ups at ABC and Disney don’t think the situation is all that funny. The New York Post reported that ABC executives convened for “emergency meetings” on Monday to address how to move forward. Meanwhile, Robach and Holmes were taken off the air that same day, replaced by Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez. Ramos quickly introduced the segment by stating that the regular anchors had taken the day off before Benitez completely changed the subject.

According to TMZ, ABC News President Kim Godwin told staffers at an editorial call on Monday that, while the affair wasn’t a violation of company policy, it was an “internal and external distraction.”

“And so, I want to say that while that relationship is not a violation of company policy, I have really taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization,” said Godwin. “This is something I’m not going to talk — we’re not going to talk about on this call until there is more to be said. I’m asking that we stop the whispering in the hallways. You know, we can’t operate with gossip, and speculation and rumors. We need to stay focused on the work.”

The GMA Anchors May Stay if Ratings Are Boosted

At this point, it’s not clear what ABC is going to do. The New York Post reports that an inside source has said that Robach and Holmes may keep their jobs if the affair boosts Good Morning America’s ratings. Another source told the Post that the co-hosts may face disciplinary action for not disclosing their relationship. Another source said that Godwin had no idea that the affair was occurring.

The Daily Mail also reports that ABC insiders think Disney (ABC’s parent company) should take action against Robach and Holmes.

“Disney needs to step in and take action here,” said the insider. “We’re a family friendly network and these two are not displaying family values or Disney’s values.” They added that “Bob Iger needs to intervene and terminate them both. He should also be asking Kim Godwin how this was allowed to happen on her watch.”

Robach and Holmes have both scrubbed their Instagram accounts since news of the affair broke out.
